Chemical Industry

Lime contributes to a great deal to the chemical industry. Our Products,  have found application in manufacturing fine chemicals.

agri

Agriculture uses

Hydrated Lime is popularly used to raise the soil pH level and increase crop yield. It is also used to improve the physical structure of the soil by reducing surface crusting. Additionally, it is utilised for composting, fertilisers, animal waste disposal, and soil liming.

constr

Construction Sites

As a building material, Lime is one of the oldest- probably only antedated by stone and mud. Lime has long been used in the construction industry to make mortar and plaster, serving as a binder in these substances. During the hardening process, the Lime combines with carbon dioxide from the air to form rock-like calcium carbonate, while water is released by evaporation. Hydrated Lime is used to make a special kind of mortar that hardens under water. Besides this, Quick Lime Powder is also used immensely for manufacturing AAC Blocks ( Autoclaved Aerated Concrete).

dairy

Dairy Industry

Lime is one of the alkalis used to balance the acidity in the cream prior to pasteurisation. Hydrated Lime is added to fermented skimmed milk to create calcium lactate, which is either marketed as a drug or further acidified to create lactic acid.

fuel

Fuel Gas Treatment

Lime is crucial in eliminating pollutants from fuel-gas streams of coal-fired power plants, incinerators and industrial facilities. Hydrated Lime treats flue gases before they are released into the atmosphere

glass

Glass Industry

Limestone and Quicklime are fluxes of glass. There is no substitute for liming materials in glass when colour is important

leather

Leather Industry

Since time immemorial, Lime has been used for dehairing and plumping hides preparatory to leather tanning. A cleaning agent in the leather manufacture process, Hydrated Lime is used to remove raw skin and thus obtain clean leather.

paint and pigment

Paint and Pigment Industry

Hydrated Lime is the source of all precipitated calcium carbonate, a common paint pigment. It also serves as a filler and is used in the production of cement paints

lubricant

Lubricant

Hydrated Lime is used during Plastic extrusion as a lubricant in petroleum refining and also lubricating grease manufacturing process.

para

Pharmaceutical Industry

our products are widely used in manufacturing most calcium-based organic salts and pharmaceuticals.

sugar

Sugar Industry

Hydrated Lime and Quick Lime are essential to sugar production from sugar cane and sugar beet. It is used for the removal of dirt, puma and pH correction. Other forms of sugar- sorghum, levulose, and dextrose also require Lime in their refinement.

water

Water Treatment

Lime is extensively used to treat municipal wastewaters and industrial liquid wastes. In wastewater treatment plants (both urban or industrial) Hydrated Lime and Quick Lime are widely used for correcting the pH balance of acidic water, for precipitating heavy metals and phosphates, and for its flocculating action. Lime is widely used for stabilizing industrial residual sludge or dredging sludge and for treating urban biosolids before agricultural re- use or incineration.

paper

Paper Industry

Lime is a primary raw material for the paper and pulp industry. Quicklime and Hydrated Lime are essentially required to manufacture pulp and paper to enhance paper quality by maximizing its opacity.

road

Road Building

Lime stabilizes the in-place soils, borrow soils, or aggregate used in road building. Hydrated Lime helps form an impermeable base, reducing the chances of rainwater seepage.

steel

Steel Industry

Steel plays a crucial role in the automotive industry, construction, and the country's economy and security. In steel manufacture, Sigma's Quick Lime acts as a flux in purifying steel. It is also used in metallurgical plants and refractories, thus making it integral to metal manufacturing.
